A shirt dress is just what  you’re already thinking it is…yes a shirt long enough to be a dress or simply a shirt extended to create a dress. The comfort and figure flattery offered by this piece makes it a versatile choice for any wardrobe. By giving  one a choice  of lengths, sleeve lengths and hemlines you can create a myriad  of outfits from one solid piece. The trick is to be clever with your styling and you never have to feel like you’re repeating the same outfit over and over. How cool is that ?

Shirt dresses have an effortless vibe  and of course they look perfect on their own, but why not play with styling a little so to own your outfit or be more comfortable in it. After all it is all about adding your personality in your outfit.

Shirt dresses are perfect to wear on casual basis but can be worn formally as well. Styling is everything for this piece to achieve versatile looks and  to avoid your shirt dress looking homely and boring. To name just a few,

•  For heels and shirt dresses or any short garment you have ; the  shorter the dress, the shorter the heel. This guide quite applies especially during the day. For example, a knee length shirt dress  worn with heels  can look quite sophisticated but a mini shirt dress worn with heels can look inappropriate , however the same mini dress worn with flat shoes/ sneakers  can look more appropriate and cool.   But of course don’t let this guideline limit your styling imagination.
• To avoid your body being swamped in the shirt dress , as some can  look baggy  and shapeless add a  belt slim or thick for a nipped in waist and a fuller body. The belt accentuates  ones figure by showing off their waist,  plus the extra details makes the outfit more interesting . A little style secret, you can use a scarf instead of a belt to nip the shirt dress in at the waist.
• When it comes to the accessories go crazy but not too crazy to avoid  crowding your shirt dress. You can go for a colorful headband or head wrap, a colorful  hand bag ( like I did) , shoes shoes shoes I cannot insist enough as this can make or break your outfit, a statement necklace  or a chunky  watch, the point is to make your outfit pop and realizing whatever piece of accessory you choose makes all the difference.

With the gift of internet, don`t feel stuck or left out just look it up and you will find a style inspiration that suits your personality. I styled my shirt dress in two ways have a look.

The first part of the outfit was styled with white converse sneakers, a colorful and beautiful piece of art tote bag and a brown watch.

My main accessory was this breath taking piece of art from Michael Soi (Soi Sos tote bags) that simply makes the outfit on both accounts extremely chic and fun. Here is the second part.

I added a thick belt to cinch the waist and substituted the sneakers for a pair of color blocked sling back heels for a sexy look that i totally love.
